Retest needed / October 23, 2026
MacBook Pro 16-inch / M3 Pro / macOS 26.7.1 (25G241) / FanBar 0.7.0
Temperatures and fan speeds kept reading correctly, but after waking from clamshell sleep the Mac refused every SMC write: returning to Automatic, fixed RPM, and curve control all failed.
Limits: Restarting FanBar and its helper did not help; only restarting the Mac did. The issue is open, so fan control on this model needs a retest once a fix ships.
Read the issueHow to read this
- Results are version-specific. A macOS or FanBar update can change behavior, so each result names the versions it covers.
- "Request accepted" is not the same as "worked". Only a reporter's hands-on confirmation, or a maintainer verification, counts as confirmed control.
- Monitoring never needs the helper. Even where control is untested, temperatures and fan speeds can be read without approving anything.
- Limits always apply. Targets stay inside each fan's reported range — see what the helper can and can't do.
